POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR PAST SEASONS OF GAME OF THRONES.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones (GoT) kicks off later this month. 14th April to be more precise, and with it brings the conclusion of one of the most followed series in TV history. While it promises to be a visual delight, the music from Game of Thrones is also something that fans also enjoy.

So much so that Spotify recently unpacked some of the insights that it’s gleaned from Game of Thrones fans who listen to content from and about the show on their streaming service, including everything from the most popular songs from the series, playlists made for specific characters and podcasts dedicated to dissecting every aspect of GoT.

With that in mind, let’s see what Spotify has uncovered.

Ever since songs and playlists related to the show were added to Spotify on 1st January 2016, the platform reportedly says 380 million streams have been done up until now, as well as 250 000 users creating playlists for GoT.

In fact said playlists could provide some insight as to who Game of Thrones fans want to see sit on the Iron Throne once season eight is done and dusted. To that end Tyrion Lannister, played brilliantly by Peter Dinklage, is the most popular with more than 7 700 playlists. Whether he will get to sit on the throne, remains to be seen.

The rest of the top 10 characters with user-generated playlists is as follows:

  1. Tyrion Lannister

2. Hodor

3. Jon Snow

4. Cersei Lannister

5. Arya Stark

6. Samwell

7. Sansa Stark

8. Melisandre

9. Khal Drogo

10. Jaime Lannister.

As for the soundtrack, the main title sequence is of course very popular, and one of the most listened to songs from the series. Some of the other popular songs are tied specifically to important scenes from GoT. The song playing when Jon Snow is brought back to life for example is in the top 10, as well as the sequence during which Cercei blows up the Sept of the Baelor.
