HP refreshes its EliteBook and ZBook notebook series for 2019

Last week Acer revealed a swathe of new notebooks in New York, but they’re not the only Windows OEM that has some fresh hardware to show off, as HP revealed 2019 updates for its EliteBook and ZBook series of devices at the company’s EMEA Innovation Summit this week.

Both series are lineups that are usually deployed in the enterprise space, and as such will be filling up cubicles across the EMEA region when they’re launched later this year.

So what are the standout notebooks?

Well there are three in our books, with the EliteBook x360 830 G6, ZBook 14u G6 and 15u G6 all worthy of a shout.

Starting with the EliteBook x360. This particular model’s distinguishing feature is a rotating screen, which means it can be posed in a few different modes, but users will more than likely stick to notebook, display or tablet.

There are also three other EliteBook notebooks on their way, but none of them can perform the x360’s party trick. All four EliteBook’s are sporting similar features however, including Intel’s new 8th Gen vPro chipsets, 1 000nit brightness displays, and a lower-speced panel option that can boost the battery life up to 18 hours depending on use.

They also sport HP’s new Sure Sense security system, support 4G LTE, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as having their chassis being stress tested for durability (MIL-STD-810G).

The EliteBook x360 is expected to be available in EMEA in June, with the other three notebooks arriving a month earlier. No word on precise local arrival or pricing at this stage though.

Moving onto the ZBook offerings, the 14u and 15u are fairly similar, with the most notable difference being the screen sizes, as spotted in the image above.

Both model’s are thin and light, with HP even christening them the thinnest and lightest 14″ and 15″ workstation notebooks in the world. While we’ll have to take their word for it, but the 14u measures 17.9mm and tips the scale at 1.48kg. As for the 15u it’s 18.6mm thin and weighs 1.76kg.

Moving onto some of the more important elements, both models come in up to 4K UHD supporting displays for their respective sizes, and have been given a graphics bump with AMD Radeon Pro WX 3100 GPUs on offer.

Added to this a choice of Intel’s new 8th Gen vPro chipsets (i5 or i7), along with up to 2TB of storage, again depending on the specification.

Both the ZBook 14u and ZBook 15u are expected to arrive in EMEA in May, but again, local pricing is amiss for now.
