The Twitch integration for Borderlands 3 actually looks interesting

Twitch integration is becoming more and more common for new game releases across AAA and indie titles, but they’re usually small additions that amount to messing with the streamers for some quick laughs.

The newly announced “ECHOcast” extension for Borderlands 3, on the other hand, is doing things a bit differently starting from tomorrow 1st May.

ECHOcast – as showcased in a short video below – allows viewers to check the streamer’s inventory and skill tree as well as earn loot for participating in events. All of this is accomplished by linking your Twitch account to a SHiFT account.

While we assume this will be a part of the released game, it’s being advertised now for a big gameplay event reveal taking place tomorrow where streamers will be playing the game and viewers can start earning loot months before the game launches.

Exact details on how to set up your accounts and participate in the event can be found in a post on the official Borderlands site.

While this is obviously so much advertising for the game we do like to see interesting integration like this and we can see the ability to view player details as either a way to decrease chat spam, or increase it exponentially.

Regardless we’ll hopefully all be able to give this a spin tomorrow to see exactly how it works in practice.
