With nearly a week left until the 2019 national elections, almost every political party has delivered their manifesto and are actively trying to get South Africans to vote for them.

With this year’s elections set to be one of the intriguing in quite some time, you’ll want to keep up to date with everything while you wait at your voting station to make your mark. That’s why we’ve selected five Twitter accounts you can follow during the action and keep in the loop with.

IEC South Africa

IEC South Africa keeps an eye on how the national elections are conducted, which makes them an easy choice as an option to follow on Twitter.

Africa Check

This Twitter account looks at politics around the continent, and in particular ensures that things said online are factually correct. If you’re wanting a purely unbiased view of all the rhetoric come election day, Africa Check is a solid option.

IRR South Africa

IRR SA offers research on societal policies, from political stats to what the government is doing for the public. If you’re wanting a true reflection of what parties are promising in terms of policy, head their way.

SAfm News

Yes the SABC has ties to the government, but SAfm has always been a great source for opinion, and does not try to pick sides. If you want to hear all sides of the political arguments on election day, give them a follow.

EWN Reporter

Rounding off things is EWN Reporter, which is a great Twitter account to keep tabs on if you want breaking news. If things are happening at voting stations, or when the results are announced, EWN will be one of the first to have the information.
