The HD Decoder 6 series is DStv’s latest set-top box

MultiChoice has a new decoder that has hit the market. It’s called the DStv HD Decoder 6 series, and replaces the previous model that the company made available to purchase in stores.

This latest model is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, but touts many of the same features, which we’ll touch on shortly.

More importantly price, with the HD Decoder 6 carrying a recommended price tag of R399, which increases to R599 should you want installation too.

The new set-top box is also made from recycled components, although MultiChoice does not detail precisely how much, but does note that recycling forms a key pillar for the company.

Moving on the Decoder 6 supports a microSIM, along with being XtraView compatible with all models of Explora decoder on the market, which is important if you’re planning on having more than one in your home.

MultiChoice also adds that any DStv customers who already own a Decoder 4 or Decoder 5 model need not upgrade, as the new iteration is not sporting any exclusive features despite its more compact design and a newly styled remote.

MultiChoice says the DStv HD Decoder 6 series is available from various retailers, DStv Service Centres and agencies across the country from today (2nd May) onwards.
