IITPSA introduces digital credentials verification system

In a bid to combat fake qualifications in the country, the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) has announced that it will implement a verification system as part of its strategy to support their members’ ongoing professional development.

According to IT Web, the IITPSA will use a digital badge which will be implemented through PrivySeal, that will give members a unique badge to attach to their digital signatures, website and social media profiles, linking to a verification certificate confirming their membership and credentials in real-time.

“This new Privy Seal digital badge confirms a professionals status as a member of our SAQA recognised and IP3 accredited professional body, and affirms the individuals commitment to a high standard of professionalism and ethics. We see it as a superior way for our members to instantly produce live evidence of their professional standing,” explained IITPSA CEO Tony Parry.

Furthermore PrivySeal states that the concept is about creating an ecosystem of trusted professionals and helping to decrease qualification fraud and the associated risks of poor service and costly mistakes.

IT Web adds that last year SAQA introduced the digital Certification of Evaluation, an electronic certificate issued to holders of valid qualifications obtained from other countries. The digital certificate also comes with a digital seal, which can be embedded in email signatures, social media profiles and websites so holders can showcase their qualifications.
