Paxful has been travelling through SA educating students about Bitcoin

Paxful has spent the better part of this month touring the country stopping at universities to educate students about Bitcoin.

The firm has been hosting workshops throughout 2019 and it believes that by educating students about the Bitcoin economy, it will encourage entrepreneurship in the sector.

“As a values-driven company, we want to make the bitcoin economy accessible for everyone, especially the youth. To this end, we would like to reach as many young people as possible to help them understand the digital currency market and transact safely and with confidence,” explains co-founder and chief executive officer at Paxful, Ray Youssef.

The firm has already conducted workshops at Wits University and the University of Cape Town. Paxful will also be hosting a workshop at Stellenbosch University today (17th May) at VV Hall, 1st Floor, The Neelsie from 16:00 to 19:00.

At the workshops students receive Bitcoin but Paxful did not share how much of the currency is given away.

The workshops are also not stopping in South Africa.

Next week Paxful will host a workshop at Nairobi Cinema in Kenya from 10:00 – 12:00 for students from Nairobi University, Kenyatta University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Catholic University of East Africa, Strathmore University, Multimedia University, Zetech University, Technical University of Kenya, and Kenya Methodist University.

South Africa is one Paxful’s top markets internationally but the firm says that it seen significant growth in digital currency transactions on the continent as a whole.
