Blizzard kicks off third Overwatch anniversary event tomorrow

When it comes to popular gaming titles, Overwatch has been overtaken of late by the likes of PUBG, Fortnite and Apex Legends, but developers Blizzard have an anniversary event kicking off tomorrow (21st May) to woo some players who haven’t played the title in some time.

It’s the title‘s third anniversary event with Blizzard planning a host of offerings between now and 10th June when it ends.

To that end there will be a week-long free trial of the game for newcomers, lasting until 28th May, as well as promise of new emotes, skins, cosmetics and arcade brawls being available during the Overwatch anniversary.

Added to this Blizzard says that long-time gamers can expect wholly new content, with Legendary and Epic skins, as well as new dances said to be arriving. Furthermore some of the newer characters like Ashe, Baptiste and Wrecking Ball will be getting new content.

Unfortunately it does not look like Blizzard have a new map in the works for this anniversary, but the developer has been busy recently on content for Overwatch, with the addition of the Havana Map earlier this month and the Workshop for hero customisation.

With a little over three weeks worth of action promised in this upcoming anniversary, perhaps Blizzard has a couple more things in store for Overwatch, especially if they want to win back some players or attract some new ones.
