Compensation Fund to introduce new ITC system in September

This week, the Compensation Fund (CF) confirmed that it will introduce a new electronic Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (e-COID) claims management solution which is set to be introduced in September this year.

According to SA News, the ITC system is intended to improve the ease of doing business, and is it part of the organisations restructuring process which started more than two years ago, after massive backlogs in the claims process began to yield results.

“We will soon enter the second phase of our restructuring. The focus is on what we do in provinces. We want to be responsive to the needs of our clients. We are not where we were in the past, yet we are not where we want to be,” said Compensation Fund commissioner, Vuyo Mafata.

SA News adds that Mafata was addressing a breakfast networking session this week which is a partnership with the East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ) was announced, with the engagement part of fulfilling the objective of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by ELIDZ.

“There have been challenges with past and previous claims systems. The upcoming modernisation system will have benefits such as faster turnaround, correct workflows, open communications and provide for timeous payments among others,” added CF deputy director for Information Technology, Precious Mdlokovana.
