HP gets in touch with nature by introducing wood for its Envy notebooks

HP has always been open to experimentation when it comes to their Envy and Spectre ranges of notebooks. Late last year they covered the Spectre Folio in leather, and now they’re turning to wood for their Envy lineup.

More specifically the company is offering a wood panel on specific Envy devices – the Envy 13, Envy x360 13, Envy x360 15 and Envy 17. This genuine wooden panel sits on the portion of the notebook below the keyboard, and encompasses the touchpad as well.

HP will also be selling these notebooks with either the latest Intel or second-generation AMD Ryzen internal configurations.

Shifting focus back to the outside, the company has three different wood options available, with a brown walnut to pair with black Envy devices, and a birch variant for white or silver notebooks. The firm also says that each wooden panel will be entirely unique as they will all have different grains.

While we have not seen the wood-clad Envy notebooks in person, the press images look good, especially for the birch options. The walnut one looks a tad faux, but again we’d need to see them in person to pass proper judgement.

There’s no pricing on the new Wood Envy options, but HP says they plan to launch them in select regions in the third quarter of this year. Whether South Africa is one of those regions, remains to be seen.
