Samsung offering free firmware upgrades on older phones at local service centres

If you happen to own an older Samsung smartphone, the company has a local limited-time offer you may be interested in.

To that end Samsung Mobile South Africa free firmware upgrades on specific devices. Namely the 2017 Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7, as well as the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

The offer is available at participating Samsung service centres across the country from now until 6th June. Those who take the South Korean firm on their free deal will save up to 5GB on data when they perform the update, with the company is also installing and activating Samsung Pay on the devices as well.

The upgrade process is as follows:

• Customers are to visit a participating Samsung service centres from 23rd May 2019 and request their free upgrade.
• The service centre will confirm that the device is a Galaxy A5 / A7 (2017), S7 or S7 Edge device (South African models only) and then complete their upgrade.
• The support staff will then perform the free installation and activation of the Samsung Pay app.
