Reports say Samsung’s Galaxy Fold delay will continue through June

It has been a rough few months for the Samsung Galaxy Fold, with the foldable phone initially set for release in select regions in May, but prior to the launch several devices seeded to tech publications and reviewers showed significant signs of wear and tear.

That forced the South Korean manufacturer to delay the launch of the Galaxy Fold in order to sort out some manufacturing issues, but it looks like another delay is on the cards according to reports coming out of Korea.

Citing an unnamed source close to the project, The Korea Herald is reporting that the second delay will push the launch of the Galaxy Fold through June. This as a new date for the foldable phone is yet to be confirmed by Samsung, despite the firm noting that it would announce a new date a few weeks after the initial delay.

While Samsung is yet to comment on the reported second delay, it’s clear that 2019 is not shaping up to be the year of the foldable phone as the South Korean company may have been hoping. These continued delays, not to mention the rumoured price tag, will likely have dented consumer confidence in the technology.

Add to that Huawei’s recent woes, with the impending removal of its Android license by Google casting doubt over the local release of their foldable Mate X device, which was initially anticipated for September this year.

Either way, it looks like consumers will have to stick to their regular candy bar shaped devices for now.
