Marvel has been tinkering with the way it gets its content to fans, having tried our graphic audiobooks and podcasts of late, and now the company is readying a large batch of audiobook adaptations for release in September this year.
This according to Variety, with the publication noting that audiobook specialists Dreamscape are adapting roughly two dozen (24-plus) titles for release later this year. These include comic book series like The Ultimate Spider-Man, The Ultimate X-Men, X-Men: Codename Wolverine, and Daredevil: The Man Without Fear.
Having sealed up a deal to the movie rights of the X-Men universe, it looks like Marvel is using this opportunity to bring those characters to fans in audio form.
When the titles get released in September, Variety reports that they’ll be available on popular audiobook platforms like Amazon, Audible, Apple Books, Google Play and Overdrive, along with a few others.
Stateside they will also be available to freely listen to thanks to a collaboration with the Hoopla app.
With podcasts becoming extremely popular in recent years, it should be interesting to see if these new audiobooks will bring in more fans for Marvel, not that they’re starving for them.
Regardless though, being able to enjoy comic books in other forms is never a bad thing.
