Time is running out to participate in PlayStation’s Days of Play sale

Every year PlayStation runs the Days of Play event where hardware and software for its consoles are on offer at great discounts, with 2019 being no exception.

While this may sound like a big event only happening overseas, Days of Play is available in South Africa too with local retailers slashing prices to get you on a new console or in a new game for less money.

The event only takes place between 7th June and 17th June, which means that you only have a few more days to grab these deals.

The big ticket item people are talking about is the limited edition Days of Play branded PlayStation 4. This 1TB version of the console comes in a “steel black” colour (with a matching controller) and has the famous PlayStation face button symbols on the top of the case. While it was on pre-order for R6 799, it can be had right now for R5 799. You can see what it looks like in the header image above.

If you already have your own a PlayStation 4 and want to get into the world of virtual reality (VR) then you’re in luck. There is a bundle consisting of the PlayStation VR V2 headset, camera and the game VR Worlds on offer for R3 999, discounted down from R4 899.

Additions for your existing console don’t end there either, as the new version of the familiar DualShock 4, in black, can be had not for the normal price of R1 139, but for R799 instead.

If you’re all sorted for hardware at this point, let’s talk about software starting with a subscription to PlayStation plus. The 3 month and 12 month subscription cards are both reduced to R245 and R630 respectively. Regardless of which one you buy you will be getting access to online play and free games every single month that your subscription is active.

Finally it’s time for games. In terms of physical titles Marvel’s Spider-Man (R599), God of War (R499) and Gran Turismo Sport (R399) are our top picks. Do you feel like flinging yourself around fictional New York and taking a selfie on the top of the Avengers Tower? Or maybe you’re in the mood to beat up the entire pantheon of Norse mythology. Or, you know, just have a good race. Whatever you’re in the mood for, there’s a game here for less.

The great thing about the Days of Play sale is that everything we’ve mentioned above –  in terms of games, subscriptions, consoles and controllers – is just some of what’s on offer. Many shops around South Africa are participating, so you can go on down to the local brick and mortar to browse, or check their online stores to see what they still have in stock.

If you prefer your games digital, the PlayStation Store has a sale to coincide with the event, so that title you’ve been eyeing out for a while may have already been dropped down.

Just remember to act fast as the Days of Play event comes to a close on 17th June. There’s still time to get whatever you want, but not much.
