Harry Potter: Wizards Unite apparates onto smartphones this Friday

Creators of smartphone sensation Pokémon Go, Niantic, are gearing up for the release of its next big title in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

The game is set to be released on 21st June and, much like Pokémon Go, players will need to go out into the real world to save people from rogue magical creatures that appear on your smartphone thanks to augmented reality.

“Your journey begins as a new recruit of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, established by the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards for the purpose of investigating and containing The Calamity,” reads a blurb about the game on the official website.

There is a bit of sad news for locals looking to shove off their Muggle skin – Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will only launch in the UK and US initially.

While we understand that this is likely to insure the smooth rollout of the game, we can’t help but think that Niantic didn’t learn its lesson during the release of Pokémon Go.

You may recall that game being a pain to play at first with servers being unavailable during peak times thanks to the massive influx of fans playing the game around the world.

We suspect this may happen again given how popular the Harry Potter universe is. That having been said we caution our readers to avoid side-loading applications as there is no telling what could be hidden within that application.

Folks looking to play the game can head on over to the Google Play Store to pre-register for the game. For iOS users you can head to this link to download the game but you won’t be able to play it just yet.
