Apple said to have 16″ MacBook Pro ready for launch in September

Earlier this year reports suggested Apple was working on a new model of MacBook Pro, with a 16″ variant being designed. Now it’s said that 16″ flavour will be ready to launch in September.

This according to Forbes, with the publication citing industry analyst Jeff Lin from IHS Markit. Along with the release date, Lin also details some of the display elements that the new MacBook Pro will apparently be sporting come September.

To that end the 16″ MacBook Pro will feature a 16″ LCD panel, curiously enough, with LG said to be the supplier. The display will have a resolution of 3072×1920, which is a step up from the 2880×1800 resolution on the 15.4″ MacBook Pro in Apple’s lineup.

Along with the new display, the 16″ model will naturally be running an improved processor, according to Lin, although he does not mention what kind of performance it will yield. Lin also notes that demand for the new notebook will be quite high, with IHS Markit forecasting 250 000 units per month globally.

The analyst doesn’t stop there with his projections, stating that both the recently debuted MacBook Air and 13″ MacBook Pro will also receive processor upgrades.

While the prospect of a new computing device from Apple is always exciting, in recent years the firm has been struggling with manufacturing quality. The latest incident revolves around the battery of the 2015 15″ MacBook Pro, as well as the keyboards on 2017 or later models proving problematic.

Whether Apple has a fix for the latter on this upcoming 16″ model remains to be seen.
