Trevor Noah is the second South African on Hot Ones

Hot Ones – the famous internet show where celebrities scoff down chicken wings doused in hot sauce – has a new guest in South African star Trevor Noah.

Charlize Theron was the first big name from this country to take on the challenge back in March of 2018, and host Shaun Evans brings it up asking Noah to teach him a Zulu phrase after Theron taught him to swear in Afrikaans.

Discussion stayed on the country a while longer asking Noah which South African food deserves more international attention between slap chips, bunny chows and biltong. Noah answered biltong, citing its superiority over jerky which is sometimes made with sugar.

To quote him: “jerky is trash”.

Other topics discussed include roller coasters (it’s alluded to in the title), using hot sauce to describe racism, and when Noah took the Daily Show over from Jon Stewart.

Stewart was actually in the news recently as he gave testimonial to the US congress around 9/11. Attached to that there is also this clip which is good if you feel like crying for a different reason on a Friday afternoon.

One final point to mention in the interview is comparing the taste of American hot sauce to that of South African (and British) staple Nando’s.

As with all Hot Ones shows the celebrity guest is on to promote some new venture of theirs. Noah is no different with his product to sell being his new tour called Loud and Clear. Despite being an international tour, it looks like Noah is skipping over South Africa, at least according to this list of shows on his website. Boo.
