Huawei welcomes President Ramaphosa’s support

The G20 Summit was held over the weekend in Osaka, Japan, where world leaders discussed global economic challenges, and pledged their and commitment to addressing them.

Among the discussions for South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa and Chinese President, Xi Jinping, was an agreement to mutual cooperation between the two countries, which included SA’s support for Huawei and other Chinese companies.

“South Africa welcomes and supports Chinese companies, including Huawei, to invest and operate in the country, and is ready to intensify communication and coordination with China within such multilateral frameworks as the G20 and BRICS,” said Ramaphosa during the Summit.

In response to the statement made by President Ramaphosa in support of Huawei, the Chinese firm said that they are encouraged by his remarks, and wish to continue with their work of investment in South Africa’s ICT sector as the country is preparing for the fourth industrial revolution.

“We share governments vision that ICT will be among the key drivers for future economic growth and social development,” said Huawei South Africa in a statement sent to Hypertext.

Huawei SA adds that they will continue to work with dedication and focus to support the needs of South Africa’s telecoms and ICT partners and they will continue to bring good service and experience to their customers and gear up to deploy the next generation network.

“We look forward to working with relevant stakeholders to bring better connectivity to people in SA, with ICT products and solutions including advanced 5G technology,” concluded the firm.
