Bloomberg report says Samsung has finally fixed the Galaxy Fold

We’ve been covering developments regarding the Samsung Galaxy Fold ever since the device’s launch was delayed due to some manufacturing flaws in the foldable phone’s design.

Recently Samsung co-CEO DJ Koh stated that he rushed the development of the Fold and launched the device before it was ready. Now a Bloomberg report says the company’s redesign of the Galaxy Fold is now complete, with screen failures in particular having been addressed.

More specifically the protective film that covers the screen has now been increased to stretch into the bezel portion of the device to ensure that people cannot pull it off, which was an issue previously. This will also presumably stop any dirt from getting underneath the protective film to cause unsightly blemishes or bubbling too.

The central hinge of the phone has also been tweaked slightly, with it now sitting flush with the two rear portions of the Galaxy Fold when fully opened. Whether this stops any creasing, which is a potential we’re expecting after continued use, remains to be seen.

At this stage it’s also unclear when Samsung plans to re-launch the device, with no official word coming out of the South Korean firm just yet. That said, we’ll more than likely see it appear at next month’s Galaxy Note 10 event.

What should be more interesting in our opinion is whether the redesign will affect the price of the Galaxy Fold in any way, with it initially listed at $1 980 when unveiled earlier this year.

As always the question for us is, whether people will still be keen on buying this extremely expensive device given all the issues it’s suffered to date.
