Nvidia adds new “Super” variants to its RTX 20 series GPUs

Nvidia this week has awakened our nostalgia with the release of its Super variants of RTX 20 series GPUs.

The RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080 will all be getting a Super model for desktop GPUs and offer what appears to be a modest speed bump on the regular non-Super cards.

The manufacturer says that Super variants increase performance by up to 25 percent.

Over on its blog, Nvidia says that an RTX 2060 SUPER will be faster than a GTX 1080, an RTX 2070 SUPER is faster than a GTX 1080 Ti and the RTX 2080 SUPER is faster than a Titan Xp.

As for performance gains, Nvidia detailed these over on its blog. Comparing the RTX 2060 against the RTX 2060 SUPER, you can expect frame rates on “max game settings” to improve from 42fps to 50 fps in Metro Exodus at 1080p.

Nvidia also announced starting prices for the SUPER cards though at time of writing we can’t find local pricing just yet.

The RTX 2060 SUPER will start at $399, the RTX 2070 SUPER at $499 and the RTX 2080 SUPER will start at $699.

Both the 2060 SUPER and 2070 SUPER are expected to be available stateside on the 9th July while the 2080 SUPER will only land on 23rd July.

The firm will also be bundling Control and Wolfenstein: Youngblood with these graphics cards for a limited time.
