So Uber Eats Dine-In is a thing in the US

Look, we’re fans of Uber Eats but the firm is going a step too far in its quest to wiggle its way into your food deliveries.

Uber Eats Dine-In is reportedly a feature in some US cities according to TechCrunch. The feature allows folks to pre-order a meal, then head to the restaurant to sit down and eat that meal.

Users will reportedly be able to see how long the preparation will take, the distance to the restaurant and its rating as well as the price of the meal.

Unfortunately the feature doesn’t allow for you to request an Uber to the restaurant of your choosing though an Uber spokesperson told TechCrunch this was a good idea but not something it was doing just yet.

The thing that confuses us (apart from the concept of pre-ordering your food before getting to your table) is that Uber appears to waive the standard Uber delivery and service fees. Naturally this makes sense because Uber isn’t doing much of anything besides allowing you to pre-order food.

The feature doesn’t actually let you book a table though, you can just pre-order your food which is a bit of a let down if you wanted to head to a restaurant and just enjoy the ambiance.

The goal of this feature appears to be saving time which is fair enough but we can’t help but think that if you’re so busy you need to pre-order your food before sitting down at a restaurant, maybe you should just be ordering takeout.
