William Shatner is the latest celebrity guest for Comic Con Africa 2019

Comic Con Africa 2019 continues to improve on its 2018 inaugural debut by pumping up the number of international celebrities who will be in attendance, with William Shatner being the newest one to join on.

This was announced by Shatner himself on Twitter a few hours ago, but comes with very little information outside of confirming that he’ll be at the event which starts on 21st September.

The event runs until 24th September, but that tweet states that he will only be here until the 23rd. We’re not sure if that’s a mistake or the actor famous for playing Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek is simply leaving a day early.

Adding to this bit of confusion is the fact that the official Comic Con Africa channels, which usually announce such things, is oddly silent and has made no mention of this addition at the time of writing. Either they’re asleep at the wheel or Shatner announced his presence early.

Regardless the roster at the event is growing at a steady tick. Together with many comic book artists, the big celebrity names attached to Comic Con Africa 2019 are:

  • Anthony Mackie
  • Isaac Hempstead Wright
  • Nolan North
  • Troy Baker

Exact details about when and where you can interface with these guests (as well as how much it will cost you) has not been finalised yet. We’ll hopefully be getting those details as we get closer to September.

Shatner is a con veteran having attended countless such events over the years. You can see him at 2016 San Diego Comic Con International in the header image above (CC 2.0 by Gage Skidmore).
