Africa Blockchain Alliance calls for applications to developers scholarship program

In February this year Africa Blockchain Alliance (ABA) launched the Africa Blockchain Developer Program in partnership with the ConsenSys Academy, to give developers in Africa the opportunity to gain skills to become industry-ready.

According to the company the first intake of graduates for this program will be graduating this month (July). ABA is now looking to increase the number of developers and country representation with it calling on more Africans to apply for the second intake of the program beginning in August.

“The Africa Blockchain Developer Program is one of the best online education programs I’ve taken in my life. It has successfully initiated me into Blockchain space, and fully-prepared me for venturing into this emerging technology sector,” said a student from Ghana, Kwadwo Amo-Addai.

ABA adds that the program is mostly online with in-person sessions in select cities. These sessions give developers in Africa access to ConsenSys Academy Developer courses at a discounted rate.

The company states that developers will have access to dedicated mentors who will have weekly office hours with them for up to one or two hours per week, and answer questions on a daily basis.

“The Africa Blockchain Developer Program was quite informative both in a theoretical and practical aspect. The mentorship and office hour session were top-notch and provided efficient and quick solutions where I was stuck technically,” added a student from Uganda, Allan Katongole.

Furthermore ABA states that developers will have unlimited access to an online forum with over 2 000 developers who are all current or past students at the ConsenSys Academy.

The program will run for 11 to 12 weeks, and upon completion graduates will be issued certificates in Ethereum, as well as be given an opportunity to work on blockchain projects in Africa and around the world.
