Grinding for Bad Juju in Destiny 2? Here’s how to get a ton of planet materials

The latest exotic weapon to land in Destiny 2 is Bad Juju and it is testing the financial acumen of players.

Unlike other Exotic quests which had you sweating it out in the Crucible, or Gambit, or both, Bad Juju simply requires you purchase tributes with planetary materials and Glimmer.

You can, of course, earn Tributes by completing certain activities with Leviathan raids or Menagerie gear and weapons equipped. This was the method we used to farm the majority of our tributes to unlock the weapon but now we’re stuck trying to unlock the Catalyst for the gun.

As you might imagine we are now low on materials and Glimmer which makes this process rather frustrating.

While discounts for Tribute purchases can be earned daily through Boon’s of Opulence you can only earn a four percent discount per day up to a maximum of 80 percent. This grind is going to be long.

Except it doesn’t have to be.

The first thing you’re going to want to do is head to Hawthorne at the Tower and purchase the green gear she has on offer.

Your goal here is to lower your power level as much as possible because you’re headed to the Volundr Forge in the EDZ.

Green means “Go to Volundr and fail”

For those who are confused as to why you would want to lower your power level for a 610 power activity let us explain.

Forges from the Black Armory expansion happen to yield a very small amount of planet materials, even if you fail the forge. By loading into a forge and walking away from your console or PC and failing the forge you can essentially farm materials for as long as you want. Remember, the forges are match-made activities so once you load into a forge once and let the game keep dropping you into instances as you fail.

The reason you should lower your power level is so as not to interfere with other players who might actually be trying to complete a forge. By lowering your power level you are likely to get match-made with folks who are doing exactly what we’ve described above.

Another slice of good news is that you won’t be punished as the time on the clock is 60 seconds. That means you won’t be booted for being AFK so you can farm with peace of mind.

We’ve averaged around four Dusklight Shards per forge which is not bad considering you are doing absolutely nothing to earn those materials.

This exact same cheese can be done on Nessus at the Izanami and Gofannon forges so that you can earn Microphasic Datalattice.

Now, one you have earned a boat load of materials you could simply use these materials to buy your tributes but there is another option. With your materials head to Devrim in the EDZ and Failsafe in Nessus and exchange these materials for items. These items can then be dismantled for Legendary Shards.

It’s worth keeping in mind that you can also head to Spider in the Tangled Shore to purchase Glimmer and materials with Legendary Shards or planet materials.

Our advice is to check Spider first before turning in any materials.

As of time of writing this method works (we know because we’re doing it) but Bungie could patch this at any point so jump into those forges, fail and do something else throughout the day.

Ada-1 would be so proud.
