Back in 2017, Apple made the “courageous” move to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack from the iPhone 7.
The decision drew widespread criticism from tech journalists and, well, everybody who was still using regular earphones.
At the time Apple sold a dongle that would allow folks to plug regular headphones into the iPhone as well as AirPods which have become a regular site in coffee shops and malls.
The removal of the headphone jack also prompted several firms to mock Apple, one of those firms being Samsung.
In the 2017 advert “Growing Up” an Apple user endures storage issues, a lack of water resistance and needing a dongle to listen to music and charge his handset.
The advert ends with the call to action “Upgrade to Galaxy”.
But now, two years later, that advert has seemingly disappeared from the Samsung US YouTube page.
While the advert is still up on Samsung Malaysia’s YouTube page, the advert is no longer on the main Samsung page either.
The big question we have is why?
While the advert does mock a “feature” that Samsung has now been adopted in the Galaxy Note 10, it’s not that bad. Indeed we think removing the advert from its major pages could do more harm than good.
While we will admit that Bluetooth earphones have become better over the years we do still like being able to plug in our headphones and not have to worry about battery power.
You can see the advert in question in the video below, but it might be gone soon if Samsung is serious about scrubbing its jest from the internet.
Hey Apple, got any of that courage you had a few years ago? Looks like Sammy here could use some
