“Storm Area 51” creator planning three-day Alien Festival in September

For the past few weeks, the “Storm Area 51” has percolated through to all corners of the internet. That was until Facebook decided to remove the posting of the event from its platform over genuine fears that people would indeed try to invade a US military base in a bid to “see them aliens”.

Now the creator of said event, Matty Roberts, has partnered with an events company to launch a new festival called Alienstock. The events company in question is The Hidden Sound, with a three-day long festival planned to be held in the small American town of Rachel, Nevada.

It’s set to kick off on 19th September, with a number of music acts promised, but none confirmed for now. With a little over a month to go before the festival is scheduled to start, there isn’t much time to get things in order.

The event planners are also seeking donations for Alienstock, which is billed as an alien-focused festival in the closest town to Area 51, but as things stand now, we could have another Fyre Fest on our hands.

There’s also the issue of the people of the town of Rachel, which totals 54, most of whom are less than pleased that Alienstock is planning to host a three-day long event there, according to The Washington Post.

With 2 million people having registered their interest to Storm Area 51 before Facebook took the notice down, should the Alienstock organisers get all logistical aspects sorted, the small town of Rachel could be in for a mass influx of alien enthusiasts.

To that end organisers say they expect anywhere from 5 000 to 30 000 people for Alienstock.

Whether it will indeed happen though, remains to be seen.
