South African game Boet Fighter releases worldwide in September

If Broforce is the most American game ever made in South Africa, Boet Fighter is the most South African game ever made in South Africa, and we finally have some more information about when we can play it.

Thanks to a new trailer (embedded) below, a Steam page (right here) and a press release (over there), we know that Boet Fighter will launch next month. Probably.

If this is your first time seeing the game Boet Fighter is set in SA – Fourways to be precise – and is a side-scrolling beat ’em up with the ultimate goal of Double Dragon girlfriend rescue.

Aside from just being set in this country the game is dripping with local flavour. Despite the trailer being just two minutes long you can see a typical braai, rugby, a taxi on the pavement, and an allusion to the H20 party.

And the end of the trailer Jack Parow is even teased as an Easter Egg but the press release states that he will be a DLC character, so we’re not entirely sure how he will factor into the game right now.

Regardless Boet Fighter has been popping up at local conventions for some time now and people have been excited to play it, so we’re happy to see more details about it pop up, even if there’s isn’t an exact date as of yet.

You can head back to the aforementioned Steam page to read the very short game description, the modest system requirements, or to add it to your wishlist. Right now there’s no price attached to the game.
