How to link your Destiny 2 account to Steam

With Bungie and Activision having parted ways earlier this year, Destiny 2 needed to find a new launcher for its game.

With Valve just down the road from Bungie’s studio, the choice to switch to Steam must have been an obvious one and so, on 1st October 2019, Destiny 2 will launch from Steam rather than Battle.net.

Ahead of that date players need to link their Bungie and Steam Accounts to insure a smooth transition upon Shadowkeep’s release.

The developer has made this somewhat easier with a sub-site you can visit here but there are a few things to take note of.

Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, this is a one time transfer meaning that you should make sure the Steam account you are linking is active. If it isn’t, you run the risk of losing everything.

Upon visiting the PC Move website above you will be asked to log into your Bungie Account (create one now if you don’t have one already) and start the move.

You will then be presented with a summary of your account which will include all of your characters, DLC purchases and Silver.

It is important that you review this information and make sure that everything you have is on that list.

Once you have confirmed that all the information is correct you will be asked to link your Steam account which will require you to log into your account to approve the link.

Once this is done you can click complete and you are ready to go, well, as soon as Destiny 2 makes the move to Steam.

It’s also worth remembering that Cross Save should be activated today as well.

A message at the top of the Bungie page will let you know if you are ready for the move.
