The titanium Apple Card does not like leather or denim

Earlier this year the Apple Card was made available to users in the United States, with it being a new virtual solution for iPhone owners to handle payments and finances. Along with the virtual solution, there is also a physical titanium Apple Card that accompanies the service.

This too made its way to consumers, and in usual Apple fashion looks great. If you want to keep it looking that way though, there are a few things you’ll need to be aware of.

To that end Apple recently published a How To post on taking care of your Apple Card, and as it turns out the physical titanium offering does not play well with leather or denim.

More specifically Apple’s post says this: “Some fabrics, like leather and denim, might cause permanent discoloration that will not wash off.” As such it you plan to place the card in your indigo dyed selvedge denim jeans sans wallet, it may very well change from silver to a shade of blue.

Apple’s care instructions also include the following –

  • Store your titanium Apple Card in a wallet, pocket, or bag made of soft materials.
  • Place your card in a slot in your wallet or billfold without touching another credit card. If two credit cards are placed in the same slot your card could become scratched.
  • Don’t place or store your titanium Apple Card card near magnets. If your card is placed close to a magnetic latch on a purse or bag, the magnetic strip can become demagnetised.
  • Don’t place your titanium Apple Card in a pocket or bag that contains loose change, keys, or other potentially abrasive objects.

It therefore appears as if the simplicity and ease that Apple was aiming for with this card, isn’t all that simple.

For now it’s not something that local Apple fans will need to worry about, with the Apple Card service and physical titanium offering yet to confirmed for launch in South Africa.
