htxt.africast – Comic Con Africa, Daemon X Machina and China tariffs

We’re back this week for a new africast with a big convention in our back yard, a new mech game on the horizon, and more expensive tax thanks to the US.

First up is Comic Con Africa which returns to the country and the continent in 2019 after its initial outing last year. With a bigger venue and more to see and do this year, we recently attended an event which filled us in on these new additions. We learned about KidsCon, which is a smaller subsection of the convention for the younger crowd, as well as smaller improvements such as more shade.

Comic Con Africa takes place at the Gallagher Convention Centre between 21st and 24th September.

Daemon X Machina also launches in September and we’ve been playing it before its release. While it does offer up some decent mech action, it is bogged down by some bad design choices and one of the worst written and presented stories we’ve seen in a long time. You can look forward to our full review closer to release.

Daemon X Machina launches on Nintendo Switch on 13th September.

Finally, the US has been implementing more and more tariffs on goods made in China and we’re beginning to see the effects of this as drone maker DJI reports that a price bump on their drones is because of this.
