Kaspersky Security for Office 365 now protects OneDrive

Kaspersky has announced that its Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Office 365 now includes protection for OneDrive.

The solution incorporates – among other things – anti-malware protection for OneDrive. This includes signature-based detection, behavioural analysis and of course, Kaspersky threat intelligence in order cull known and zero-day threats.

The addition of OneDrive as a protection point is of note as this means Kaspersky is protecting email, internet security as well as cloud storage.

This solution should, according to Kaspersky, prevent malware from finding a safe haven in shared cloud storage.

“Shared storage options, such as OneDrive, are popular and widely used business tools. But if employees can have instant and easy access to shared files, then so too can malware. Businesses need to understand this risk and ensure they are not compromising their productivity due to cyberthreats, by protecting their data and workflows. Our product provides such protection for Microsoft Office 365, allowing companies to use its collaborative features and focus on day-to-day operations, rather than worrying about the security of their data,” says head of B2B product marketing at Kaspersky, Sergey Martsynkyan.

The next item on Kaspersky’s agenda is security for Sharepoint.

“This will allow customers to use more benefits of the Microsoft solution without worrying about threats that could harm their communications and business data,” the firm concludes.
