Sony releases R18 999 vlogging kit exclusively for South Africans

Have you been toying with the idea of inviting the world into your life via a daily vlog? If you are and you’re in need of a camera, Sony has a bundle made just for you.

The star of the bundle is the Alpha a6400 camera which is paired with the GP-VPT1 shooting grip.

We’ll get to the grip in a second but first, the camera.

The sensor here is a 24.2MP Exmor CMOS sensor with pretty decent light sensitivity ranges. For stills and movies you have an ISO range of 100 – 32 000.

The Alpha6400 also boasts 425 phase-detection auto-focus points which is paired with the BIONZ X image processor and together you can expect to pull focus in 0.02 seconds,

Sony has also built Real-time Eye AF into the camera. This technology uses AI to insure that focus is kept on a subject’s eyes. The firm says this frees photographers up to frame their shot without having to fuss with focus every time.

Of course for vlogging you care about video and the Alpha6400 is able to record video at 4K, and Fast Hybrid AF tech will keep your images looking crisp.

The camera includes the Hybrid Log-Gamma, S-Log2 abd S-log3 picture profiles for greater control over colour grading.

The GP-VPT1 meanwhile isn’t just a grip. The grip can be unfolded into a tri-pod and it can be tilted up 70 degrees or down 100 degrees.

Buttons on the base of the grip allow you to release the shutter, record or zoom without needing to turn the camera around every five minutes.

The complete vlogging kit includes the following products:

  • Sony Alpha a6400
  • Sony Lens 16-50
  • SmallrRig Hot Show Adaptor
  • RODE Video Mic
  • GP-VPT1 shooting grip

All together that kit would cost R22 999 but Sony is offering it to South Africans for R18 999.

The offer is reportedly available at all major electronic retailers in South Africa so be sure to ask about the Sony vlogging kit while you’re in stores this week.
