The HP Elite Dragonfly is its latest lightweight business notebook

HP recently unveiled a handful of new devices, with a pair of curved monitors surfacing alongside a new business-focused notebook. It’s the latter that piques our interest at the moment, not least of all because of its name – the HP Elite Dragonfly.

With a name that like we were expecting something that featured a radical design, but this new offering is pretty much in line with what we’ve come to expect from the Elite notebook lineup.

The Dragonfly does feature one pretty noteworthy element though, with the device touted as the world’s lightest business compact convertible notebook. While that is indeed a rather niché category, this 13″ offering tips the scale at just 997g, which is certainly handy if portability is a major consideration for you.

So what else is the HP Elite Dragonfly sporting? Well it’s a convertible, which means its 13.3″ screen can rotate 360 degrees to be used in a tablet mode. Said screen is available in Full HD and UHD resolution options, both of which have a low-power mode that sips on the battery when needed.

Speaking of battery life, HP says the Dragonfly can last for up to 16.5 hours when fully charged. There’s also a longer-lasting model that bumps things up to 24.5 hours, but no word on what that does to the weight and size of the notebook.

In terms of internal specifications, HP has opted for an Intel Core vPro processor, as well as up to 2TB of storage and 16GB RAM, depending on the model configuration you choose. There’s also two USB Type-C ports to handle connections, along with 4×4 LTE antennas for connectivity, which too is a first for a 13″ business notebook HP confirms, while offering Gigabit-class LTE.

There’s no local word yet on when the HP Elite Dragonfly will be available in South Africa, or indeed how much it will cost, but it’s landing Stateside on 25th October starting at a pricey $1 549 (~R22 697).
