Red Hat says Ansible Automation platform will be widely available in November

Open source developer Red Hat has announced that its latest creation, the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform will be made widely available in November.

The platform is comprised of Red Hat Ansible Tower, Red Hat Ansible Engine and Red Hat Network Automation and is billed as a way for businesses to manage their automation across various departments.

“Automation has become a top priority for organizations due to the increased speed, scale and complexity of their hybrid and multicloud environments. Enterprises not only need the ability to easily create automation, but they also need to be able to share and reuse automation across projects and teams with the right level of governance and control,” explains vice president of management at Red Hat, Joe Fitzgerald.

The developers say that Ansible will suit enterprises who are just setting out on digital transformation as well as those looking to scale their efforts across more use cases.

The platform comes with a few notable additions in the form of software-as-a-service capabilities. These capabilities will hopefully drive collaboration through a consistent user experience.

The new additions include:

  • Ansible Content Collections, a new packaging format that streamlines the management, distribution and consumption of Ansible content
  • Automation Hub, a repository for certified content via Ansible Content Collections
  • Automation Analytics for improving automation efficiencies across Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform deployments

For existing Red Hat Ansible Tower customers, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform will be available by simply updating the software. For those looking to get the full suite, it will be released in early November.

“Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is the industry’s first enterprise automation platform that combines the simplicity and composability of Ansible, together with the ability to scalably and more securely share automation. The Platform will enable enterprises to expand the scope and scale of their automation more rapidly to achieve higher efficiency and improved productivity,” concluded Fitzgerald.
