The limited edition Death Stranding PS4 Pro bundle has an transparent orange controller

We’re edging ever closer to the release of Hideo Kojima’s PlayStation-exclusive, Death Stranding, on 8th November. As with most major exclusive titles, Death Stranding is getting the limited edition console treatment as Sony opts for a PS4 Pro for the game’s bundle.

It was revealed during the latest State of Play event yesterday, along with some of the design elements it could be sporting.

First and foremost it is a 1TB version of the PS4 Pro, with it also including the game on a Blu-Ray disc (of course), and a unique controller. There is no mention of whether the game disc will come in a steelbook case, which would be a nice touch given the limited edition status of the console bundle.

The console has a white matte finish to the top and bottom portions, with the former featuring two BT handprints in black. There’s also the centre portion in black, with Death Stranding written in gold lettering, should there be any confusion as to which game the design is inspired by.

The best touch for the console bundle is the DualShock 4 controller, which has an orange transparent casing to mimic the BB Pod (the one with the baby inside) that our protagonist Sam Bridges carries around in-game.

It’s still unclear what role the BB Pod plays in-game, but PlayStation’s blog about the PS4 Pro bundle says players can, “gently rock the controller to emulate holding the BB pod in your own hands.”

As for price the Death Stranding PS4 Pro console bundle will retail for a recommended $399.99 (~R5 998), but region availability is still unknown at this stage. No local availability has been noted at this stage either, but seeing as how previous limited edition console bundles have landed in SA, we’re expecting this one will too.

When South Africa details are revealed closer to launch, we’ll be sure to share everything worth knowing.
