Say these Netflix October releases three times to make them appear

As you might’ve guessed from the headline, cult-classic Beetlejuice is headed to Netflix’s South African catalogue in October.

The Tim Burton classic starring Michael Keaton is not the only thing coming to Netflix, of course, so let’s see what you can expect next month.

In terms of licensed titles the following titles will be coming to Netflix South Africa:

  • Spider-Man – 1st October
  • The Bounty Hunter – 1st October
  • Beetlejuice – 1st October
  • The Bodyguard – 1st October
  • New York Minute – 1st October
  • Baby Driver – 4th October
  • The Walking Dead: Season 9 – 9th October
  • Silver Linings Playbook – 16th October
  • The Originals: Season 5 – 21st October
  • Up North – 31st October
  • The Bling Lagosians – 31st October

As for Netflix Originals, there is a lot on offer starting off with Nikki Glaser’s comedy special Bangin’ on 1st October. Building off of her appearance in The Standups, Glaser will present her own special and it will apparently touch on some “taboo” topics like sex, which is apparently still taboo in 2019.

Continuing with the somewhat sexual theme, season three of Big Mouth lands on 4th October. Comprised of 10 episodes of 30 minutes a piece will probably make you gasp as much as the previous two season did.

On the same day the Netflix Original Series, Raising Dion releases. The series stars Alisha Wainwright as Nicole raising her son Dion played by Ja’Siah Young after his father Mark played by Michael B. Jordan. It sounds like pretty standard stuff until Dion starts showing off superhero-like abilities.

Those looking for something a bit more harrowing, you’re in luck because season two of Rotten debuts on 4th October. This time around the series will look at the horrible stories behind sugar and chocolate, the true cost of avocados and bottled water and the world of marijuana edibles.

If you prefer your mind torn apart in shorter snippets, horror film In the Tall Grass launches on the same day.

On a lighter note, Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and T.I. search for the next breakout hip-hop star in Rhythm+Flow. The contest will run for ten episodes with new episodes dropping every Wednesday. The first episode lands on 9th October.

Two days later the big one arrives. By big one we of course mean El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. Directed by Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan, the film picks up where Breaking Bad left off. Saying more than that would be dropping spoilers, so we won’t.

On the same day, 11th October, the second season of Haunted arrives with new reenactments of true-life horror stories. We’ll be saving this one for Halloween.

Netflix’s original documentary’s have been rather spectacular of late and Ghosts of Sugar Land looks to follow that trend. While we can’t find out much about it, the blurb is rather intriguing and it reads, “A group of suburban Muslim friends trace the disappearance of their friend ‘Mark,’ who is suspected of joining ISIS.”

Ghosts of Sugar Land lands on 16th October.

On 18th October Paul Rudd stars in Living with Yourself, a new Netflix Original Series. It’s a rather humorous look at a man that wants to become a new person and then winds up being replaced by a new person altogether.

Also launching on 18th October is The Laundromat. The film follows Meryl Streep as Ellen Martin as she investigates insurance fraud that leads her to two lawyers in Panama City, Jürgen Mossack (Gary Oldman) and Ramón Fonseca (Antonio Banderas).

For the foodies out there that loved The Chef Show, Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner which releases on 23rd October may be worth a watch. We say this because David Chang and a celebrity guest will eat their way through a new city every week discovering new things about each other. Chang is one of our favourite celebrity chefs and we highly recommend checking this series out.

With at least one new release landing on Netflix almost everyday in October, this month is going to be a busy one.

For those that haven’t explored the couching gripping addiction that is Netflix, October might be the month to test out the service’s free month long trial.
