Here’s the email address you need to contact Garmin about its hack

Late yesterday afternoon Garmin South Africa disclosed that its shop.garmin.co.za website had been hacked.

The attackers made off with credit card numbers, expiry dates for credit cards, CVV numbers for credit cards, first names, surnames, physical addresses phone numbers and email addresses.

Despite the serious nature of this hack, the Garmin South Africa Twitter and Facebook accounts show no mention of the hack as of 09:27AM on Friday.

Shortly after news of the hack broke we contacted Garmin South Africa only to discover that its offices close at 16:30 so we would have to wait until this morning for more information.

When we contacted Garmin South Africa this morning we were told we would have to talk to the marketing team but nobody in that team was available. Apparently the team were all in an important meeting with a client.

We were then passed along to a representative in another division who was unable to answer our questions but did point us in the direction of an email address folks can contact for more information.

That email address is productsupport[dot]privacy[at]garmin.com

This is likely the email that was obfuscated in the alert yesterday sent out by managing director Jennifer Van Niekerk.

We have sent an email to that address requesting additional information and once we have that we will be sure to share it with our readers.
