htxt.africast – FPB bill, postponed phones, Osmo Mobile 3 & Breakpoint

It’s the start of a new month, and it is crazy to think that we’re already in October, but here we are. With each passing week though comes the chance to record another africast, and this time round it’s just Brendyn Lotz and Robin-Leigh Chetty holding down the fort.

Before we delve into the meat of this week’s africast, we touch on three news stories that we deemed to be of importance.

The first is the signing of the controversial FPB Amendment bill by the presidency, which happened only a few hours ago. Details on the specifics and implementation of the bill are still unknown at the time of writing, but this is certainly a developing story we’ll be keeping tabs on.

Next is the local postponement of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro launch, which still does not have an actual release date or price yet, with the Samsung Galaxy Fold joining it on that front as its September-slated release has come and gone.

As for the main chuck of the africast, Robin-Leigh speaks about the new DJI Osmo Mobile 3, which he has putting to use covering local events over the past two weeks, shooting timelapses in particular.

Finishing things off is Brendyn and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, which he has had early access to via uPlay+. Making a solid enough start, the jury is still out for Brendyn on whether it is as good as Wildlands or The Division 2, but he’ll endeavour to play it more before crafting his full review.
