If you thought buying a new pair of Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons for $80 was steep, Thrustmaster is here with the eSwap Pro, now up for pre-order at $179.99.

As you may have guessed by the name, the big focus for this premium controller is modularity and the ability to swap out various parts of the device. The left joystick and D-pad, for example, can be switched around if you prefer an Xbox layout instead of the standard PlayStation one.

The grips and triggers can also be changed out for various shapes and functions to suit your hands or the specific game you’re playing.

Aside from being more customisable than your average PS4 pad, flipping the controller around will reveal four buttons on the back which are programmable. Two profiles can also be assigned to the entire controller, so you can quickly swap between different setups.

The functional part of this customisation also comes with a host of changes that can be made for purely aesthetic reasons, with silver and yellow “color packs” being sold separately.

The Thrustmaster eSwap Pro is primarily a PlayStation 4 controller, but also works on PC. If you’re not in the US the other international prices sit at €169.99 and £149.99 depending on where you live.

If you live in Africa, Europe, India, Middle East, Oceania or Russia, the controller will launch this year on 5th November. No word has been given on a wider release, and exact availability will vary by country. More information (and ordering links) can be found on the official eSwap Pro product page.

Thrustmaster is far from the only manufacturer making these over the top controllers with overproduced trailers (embedded below). Scuf, Astro and even Microsoft all sell some version of this concept.
