Earlier this week Dell debuted something rather interesting in the form of the OptiPlex 7070 Ultra desktop PC. This new offering features a nifty design as the components of the PC are housed within a monitor stand.

At the time there was no mention of when the latest addition to the OptiPlex range would be available locally, but now the new PC is being made available to enterprise customers via the channel.

“IT leaders are faced with pressure to keep costs down while giving employees flexibility and freedom to work in ways they’re most productive. As more organisations move to open floor plans, they’re looking for technology that maximises desk space, employee productivity and IT investments,” says Dave Lincoln, VP of Fixed Computing at Dell.

“Thirty-five years ago, Dell disrupted the way PCs were made and delivered to the world. With the OptiPlex 7070 Ultra, we are changing the category again, with an innovative desktop solution that’s hidden in plain sight,” he adds.

Dell is describing this new desktop as the industry’s most flexible, zero-footprint designed model around. Added to this is the OptiPlex 7070 Ultra providing space-saving, and clutter-free aesthetics, as well as being fully modular so you can configure and upgrade as needed throughout the product’s lifecycle, Dell says. This latter means the PC and display can be upgraded and serviced independently of one another, according to the company.

In terms of the modular aspects of the OptiPlex, Dell has noted that it supports flexible configurations for multi-user or open-plan workspaces, as well as being configurable to different use cases or work styles.

On the specifications side of things, Dell will offer three different display sizes, ranging from 19″ to 27″, along with up to Intel Core vPro i7 processors, 64GB of RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD or 2TB HDD.
