New Motorola RAZR foldable phone expected to debut on 13th November

2019 has been a rather mixed year when it comes to foldable phones. Much of the early fervour surrounding these devices at MWC 19 has since died down as quality issues and trade wars have affected Samsung and Huawei respectively. Hoping to buck that trend though is Motorola, with the new RAZR foldable phone expected to debut on 13th November.

The device is expected next month as CNET detailed invites that it received for a RAZR event on the 13th, happening in Los Angeles. The invite featured the wording, “highly anticipated unveiling of a reinvented icon,” which naturally leads us to think of the clamshell-designed RAZR.

Added to this is a gif attached to the invite which features a short clip where the body of an old school RAZR “melts” away to reveal a portion of a new device. Going off of very little here, it looks like the redesigned RAZR will also have a clamshell design, and unfold into a larger device.

Whether it’s design will support two different form factors, as the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mat X do, remains to be seen, but if Lenovo (which owns Motorola) wanted to really jump start the Motorola brand again, this is definitely one way to do it.

Other details at this stage are slim, but Lenovo is scheduled to have its annual Tech World event in China during the same week as the RAZR event, so the firm may also have some devices on show for the Asian markets too.

For now we’ll have to wait until more information on the new foldable device leaks online, which it undoubtedly will between now and 13th November.
