Harley-Davidson resumes LiveWire production after charging issue fix

Last week Harley-Davidson confirmed that it was putting production of its LiveWire electric motorcycle on hold as the manufacturer discovered a charging fault with the vehicle.

It looks like a fix for the issue was fairly easy to find as the company now confirms that production on the LiveWire has resumed.

Unfortunately Harley-Davidson does not go into the nature of the charging problem, or indeed what the fix was, but the company does not that the issue only occurred on one LiveWire motorcycle after the company conducted “rigorous analysis.”

“Temporarily stopping LiveWire production allowed us to confirm that the non-standard condition identified on one motorcycle was a singular occurrence,” an unnamed spokesperson explained in a statement sent to The Verge.

“We take pride in our rigorous quality assurance measures and our drive to deliver the world’s best motorcycles,” they added.

As for those who already own one of the electric motorcycles, which began shipping Stateside to customers in September, they can once again charge the bike at home without any fears that something will go wrong.

While we would have liked to know what the issue was, it is good to see that Harley-Davidson was prepared to put production on hold for what was seemingly an isolated incident.

With the American company one of the high-profile names at the moment when it comes to electrifying motorcycles, a lot is riding on the success of the LiveWire, with other EVs also said to be in the pipeline.

As for when or indeed if the LiveWire will be venturing onto local roads, still remains to be seen.
