Now anybody can use the FNB banking app, we just don’t know why you would

The best way to describe FNB’s latest marketing tactic is with the words “but why though”.

That’s because FNB is allowing anybody to download and use its banking app, even if they don’t have an FNB bank account.

By downloading the app non-FNB customers can open up a free digital account with no monthly fees. This account will give these users the ability to explore the FNB App in its totality.

“We are delighted to offer all South Africans the opportunity to experience the benefits of managing their money using our App. While FNB offers several interfaces to consumers, we find that our App is a convenient, safe and cost-effective way for customers to manage their day-to-day banking needs,” explains chief executive of FNB Retail, Raj Makanjee.

New users will be able to explore features such as nav>> Home, nav>> Car and other tools to help manage your financial well being.

The carrot FNB is using to get folks to download its app is R10 million worth of prizes. In order to stand a chance of winning, users will need to complete certain actions within the FNB app.

Look it’s genuinely a good idea because while I would love to move banks, I am hesitant because I’d prefer to know how well the app functions and what its functionality includes.

Giving customers a free digital account is also one helluva move we don’t think many banks would be willing to offer with nothing but the prospect of more business moving through the doors.

The FNB App is available to download for free for both Android and Apple iOS.
