Gran Turismo Sport to get an electric supercar from Jaguar

If you love concept cars but hate the fact that you can’t actually drive them, Jaguar has you covered as it has created a new supercar for the Gran Turismo Sport game.

The concept – named Gran Turismo Coupé – is an electric vehicle (EV) which apparently takes inspiration from the history of Jaguar race cars.

As the Gran Turismo Coupé will only exist in-game, the designers here went a bit mad with the proportions. Just look at that floating spoiler in the header image above, it looks like an accessory for an Autobot.

“This was the dream project for a car designer, creating a futuristic sports car for Gran Turismo means our designs and ideas could be truly limitless. It has to excite future generations and most importantly, look and feel unmistakably Jaguar,” says Oliver Cattell-Ford, the exterior designer of Jaguar Advanced Design.

While it may be a bit ridiculous to talk about the specs of an imaginary car, the Gran Turismo Coupé has 750kW of power and 1 200Nm of torque. The press release we received for this says that the “car” can go from 0 to 100 km/h in “less than two seconds”. Surely the developer of Gran Turismo Sport could give an exact number directly from the game, but we digress. This is all topped off with a top speed of 321km/h.

Other specs include a weight of 1 400 kilograms and a almost perfect 50:50 weight distribution. If all of this will translate well into the game remains to be seen.

This concept will be shown off at the Gran Turismo World Tour event which kicks off in Tokyo from tomorrow. After that the Gran Turismo Coupé will be available to download from the end of November.
