Veritas brings enterprise-grade protection to the edge

As more companies shift operations and applications to the edge, one key consideration should be protection.

In a bid to help with that need, Veritas has announced the Flex 5150 appliance.

The appliance features NetBackup data protection and is perfectly suited for deployment at the edge, branches or remote offices.

What makes this appliance really appealing however is the fact that it secures data where it is created – at the edge.

“Trends such as 5G and IoT are leading to a more decentralized IT infrastructure. And while the need for data to always be available and protected, no matter where it lives, is not going away, ‘how’ this gets done needs to adapt in light of these trends,” explains executive vice president of storage solutions at Veritas, Phil Brace said in a press release.

The “how” involves taking security into consideration.

The Flex 5150 is meant to increase efficiency and effectiveness while protecting data that the edge. What’s more is that Vertitas says a dedicated IT team isn’t needed to police the edge if its product is in place.

Veritas says the Flex 5150 will be available by the end of the year but hasn’t given an exact release date. We recommend checking the official website for word on that.
