Ford V Ferrari comes out this month and those who see it may want to get themselves a Ford GT40, which is a major part of the movie. Those people will be able to do so by buying a unique GT40, made by the same people who built the movie’s cars, which also features signatures from the stars involved.

Christian Bale and Matt Damon, playing Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby respectively, have signed a part of this car’s dashboard. Director James Mangold has also included his signature, as has Aaron Shelby, grandson of Carroll Shelby.

This version of the car isn’t built by just anyone, however, as it was assembled by Hi-Tech Automotive. This South African company has been making GT40s and Shelby cars for decades now, and they are the ones responsible for those cars seen in the movie. Yes, a film about the USA going up against Italy features hero vehicles made on the southernmost tip of Africa.

How that came to be is a story for another day (and one we will be writing soon), but for now it’s worth noting where the money from the auction will go. Proceeds from the sealed-bid auction that will sell this car off will go towards a bursary fund to help underprivileged students pursue mechanical engineering degrees.

Those already putting money aside for the auction will be disappointed to know that details are a bit thin on the ground at the moment, as the auction was revealed today at private event for Ford V Ferrari at Zwartkops Raceway.

We have heard that the auction will likely occur in January or February next year for the 2020 Passion for Speed event. While this is a South African made product being sold in South Africa, international bids are more than welcome as the goal here is to raise as much money as possible considering the cause.

Exact details will be provided in the near future, so check back here for updates.
