Apple wants to put all of its subscription services into one bundle

Two weeks ago Apple launched Apple TV+ adding another subscription service for Apple users (and those not using Apple products) to make use of.

Truth be told, the content on Apple TV+ is sparse at the moment though this will change as it ages and more content is added.

However, Apple is reportedly toying with the idea of bundling its subscription services – including Apple News+, Apple TV+ and Apple Music – into one bundle.

A report by Bloomberg suggests Apple is doing this as a way to gain more subscribers and it makes a degree of sense.

However, that same report suggests that publishers which form part of Apple News+ may not be on-board with this news.

The reason for this comes down to money.

At $10 per month for access to dozens upon dozens of magazines and newspapers, Apple News+ is a decent deal. However, because publishers only receive a portion of that fee if Apple News+ gets bundled with the other services the fee publishers would receive would likely lower.

Of course, that is very much speculation as is the talk of bundled Apple services.

That having been said, a bundle of Apple services makes sense from a user growth standpoint. Despite the lack of content on Apple TV+, a bundle including Apple Music and Apple News+ would likely encourage more people to subscribe because, well, who can turn down a good deal.

This may help Apple negotiate better deals as regards original content or indeed bring more publishers to Apple News+.

The Bloomberg reports suggest Apple will launch a bundled service in 2020 so we won’t have to wait for official news in that regard.
