Ford’s latest Mustang is the all-electric Mach-E SUV

Ford has a new Mustang, and this time around it’s a rather big deal. This as the new Ford Mustang Mach-E is the first time that the company has chosen to its expand its lineup in that iconic series of muscle cars, and more importantly it’s an all-electric vehicle.

The Mach-E is not a muscle car though, with Ford noting that it is an SUV, which too is a significant change of pace for the company.

The Mach-E is expected to debut Stateside late next year, with reservations for the car already available for those in the US. There are also five different models being made available, with the GT Performance Edition being the flagship vehicle in the lineup.

This particular model can muster a 0-60mph (96km/h) of around three seconds, with Ford stating that it can match the performance of a Porsche 911 GTS, with the car boasting 342kW of power and 830Nm of torque.

While speed is an upshot of the electric motor powering the Mach-E lineup, the most important element is its driving range, with different models capable of yielding different ranges. The entry-level model can deliver 434 kilometres, with the sportier options lower at 378 kilometres, as well as a Premium variant that can go as much as 482 kilometres.

As expected given the Mach-E has only just been revealed, Ford has not disclosed which other regions it plans to launch the new all-electric SUV outside of the States, so it remains to be seen if it will ever arrive on our roads.
