Google Stadia will have 22 titles available at launch tomorrow

Tomorrow marks the launch of Google Stadia, an intriguing new game streaming platform that although not available in South Africa, poses some interesting elements for the future of how games could be accessed moving forward.

A few weeks ago we learned of the 41 titles that Google Stadia was planning to make available during this month, including some new releases like Cyberpunk 2077, and now the platform has confirmed a list of 22 launch titles for tomorrow (19th November).

That’s almost double the number of titles that Google Stadia had initially listed, and at the very least for those sitting on the fence about the streaming service, the prospect of more titles could prove tempting.

The list of Google Stadia launch titles is as follows:

  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Attack on Titan: Final Battle 2
  • Destiny 2: The Collection (available only on Stadia Pro)
  • Farming Simulator 2019
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Football Manager 2020
  • Grid 2019
  • Gylt
  • Just Dance 2020
  • Kine
  • Metro Exodus
  • Mortal Kombat 11
  • NBA 2K20
  • Rage 2
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Samurai Shodown (available only on Stadia Pro)
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider
  • Thumper
  • Tomb Raider 2013
  • Trials Rising
  • Wolfenstein: Youngblood

While there aren’t many standouts in the above list, with the aforementioned arrival of games like Cyberpunk, Marvel’s Avengers, DOOM Eternal and others more hotly anticipated, it will be interesting to see how games like Destiny 2 and RDR2 fair as online multiplayers and whether the gaming experience is hampered by streaming.

For now though, it is something that players in South Africa need not worry about, as the streaming requirements for Stadia mean it likely won’t launch locally anytime soon. Hopefully though, that changes soon, as Google Stadia could be a game changer.
