Supersonic now offers a mesh network solution for your home

Despite your 100Mbps fibre internet connection, your WiFi router need only face a particularly thick wall for that connection to falter.

That’s not the fault of WiFi but rather the fact that physical objects interfere with the signal and as a result, degrade performance.

What one needs is a mesh WiFi network which extends the reach of the network and Supersonic has just a solution for its customers.

The solution makes use of Plume SuperPods, tiny little access points that together with your router can insure your home is bathed in WiFi, according to the service provider.

The pods can be controlled via the Supersonic app and boasts capabilities such as parental controls, AI Security and adaptive WiFi. In terms of connectivity, the SuperPods boasts support for 802.11b/g/n/ac and operate on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

The SuperPods plug into the wall and also feature a single 100Mb/1Gb ethernet port.

Supersonic says its technicians will conduct a sweep of your home to identify WiFi dead zones. Customers can then decide how many SuperPods they need.

A single device will cost R1 099 once off or R49 per month for 24 months. Supersonic also offers a bundle containing three SuperPods for R3 099 once off or R145 per month for 24 months.

Each device will also carry a R10 management fee which is payable every month on every SuperPod on your network.

For those wondering how well mesh networks work, we reviewed the ASUS Lyra last year and it was one of the few products that earned itself a 10/10 score. Mesh networks are great and if you’re suffering from terrible WiFi at home, they are absolutely worth considering.
